Africa

Dear family and friends,

As someone that we value the provision and prayers of, we wanted to ask for your help as we raise financial and emotional support in preparation for an upcoming missions trip to Uganda, Africa. We have committed to assist Watoto Children’s Ministries in their pursuit to place parentless children in families where the necessary love, care, spiritual discipleship, and physical needs are provided for daily. The goal of this organization is to equip these precious children with the essential moral values and life skills that will enable them to make a significant and lasting impact on the future of their country and the Kingdom of God. Watoto seeks to meet the essential needs of orphans in two ways:

1. By constructing homes to provide shelter for the most desperate children as well as provide them with a ‘house-mother.’ Watoto is strongly committed to placing the children in a family environment rather than in large institutional orphanages. Watoto Children’s Villages include clusters of homes, a primary school, water projects, medical clinics and a multi-purpose hall for use as a church and community center.

2. Watoto also assists relatives to care for parentless children in their extended families by providing education, clothing and food.

While in Uganda we will be assisting the Watoto Children’s Ministry by constructing one of the aforementioned homes, a classroom, assisting the medical clinics, connecting with the children and helping with other projects that may be underway. In addition to the onsite building, some of the daily activities may include: attending church, attending a local cell group, visiting nearby villages, and a traditional meal prepared by the Watoto housemothers.

The date of the trip is August 19th – September 2nd 2006. The estimated cost will be $4300.00 per person. This cost includes meals, transportation/flights, housing, vaccinations, Uganda entry Visa, passports, and $1000 for building supplies and other construction costs.

As someone we appreciate the constant source of encouragement and strengthening from we come to you first and foremost to ask for your help. Of course the obvious need is financial and we are trusting that you will give as you are led to. But the not so obvious avenue of support is spiritual. We will need your prayers daily in this calling to love and build into the lives of the seemingly forgotten children of Uganda, Africa. We are positive that we have been called to this task and we have the faith that God will use you in partnership with others to 1. Provide the means for us to be able to go and 2. Surround us with the prayers necessary to go equipped and protected from anything that tries to prohibit our effectiveness.

We appreciate the support you have already shown and we are grateful to have people like you as our partners in building HIS Kingdom, one life at a time.

Graciously,
Bethany & Nathan Gaddis and Donna Elcock

I'll definitely be praying for you guys. What an awesome ministry opportunity! My grandpa goes to Uganda just about every year to teach at the Seminary for a semester. He actually just went in January. Wish I could help financially, but I will pray about it and maybe be able to give you a little...Good luck!

Bethany,
I stumbled over your site while googling some "watoto" links. I had the pleasure of traveling to Uganda in July of 2004. Our group built the primary school and a portion of the administration building located in Watoto's Subbi village.

You are in for a truly life-altering, precious experience. The Watoto Choir is currently touring here in Springfield, Mo. and we were able to host two of the girls (Pauline and Sandra). They were absolutely beautiful.

I wish you the best of luck and will definitely say a prayer for you and your team. If you need any information or have any questions, justlet me know - I would be more then happy to help.

God Bless,
Greg Smith
