Gift that gives more

Jaxon's birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks (March 31st) and he received his first gift the other day. A donation was made in honor of his special day toward the "School Shoes for Girls in Rural Africa" section of The Hunger Site.

Here is more about this cause:

'"If only I get the chance, I will do something great."

In rural areas of Africa, many girls leave school before they have the chance to gain the knowledge and skills they need to turn the tide of poverty. They want to go to school. Their parents want them to go school. But there is no money for school clothing, books and stationery.

Since 1993, the nonprofit organization Campaign for Female Education (CAMFED) has been working to enable girls from poor families in Africa to complete school, and now you can help.

$14.00 will outfit one girl with sturdy shoes for school, affecting her life profoundly by giving her an opportunity that so many of us take for granted -- the opportunity to learn and build towards a better life.

In 2005 alone, CAMFED positively affected the lives of almost 250,000 children in some of the poorest regions of Zimbabwe, Zambia, Ghana and Tanzania.

Upon purchase, you will receive an automated e-mail with a link to a full-color certificate of acknowledgment that you may print and frame for display or gift-giving. The certificate makes a great "instant" gift for an honored colleague, family member or friend.

Please note: Your purchase is tax-deductible in the U.S.A., and you will receive a receipt from GreaterGood.org for your taxes. 100% of this gift goes directly to CAMFED. GreaterGood Network stores do not receive any profit from the sale of this "gift that gives more"; we bring it to you in the spirit of the greater good.'

What a great gift! Thanks Gigi!

Jaxon is like his Gigi and loves to be barefoot but giving shoes so others can go to school is a great idea. We all need to wear shoes sometimes.
