So you think you can sing

Last night Nathan took part in a singing competition fundraiser in Ft. Myers called So You Think You Can Sing. He wasn't a contestant but a "celebrity judge." Vonzell Solomon came up with the idea and her "peeps" put it together. If you don't recognize the name, she was the third place finisher of American Idol season 4 and affectionately called Baby V (the year of Bo Bice and Carrie Underwood).

Anyway, at first I thought it was hokey. But then afterward, having time to reflect, it was actually a pretty great event. It raised money for some local organizations that are making a difference in the Ft Myers community while instilling in youth the importance of pursuing a dream. Whether they will ever become rock stars isn't what matters most. It's the fact that, at least for an evening, they were allowed the platform to do what they love. And like the host repeated over and over again, "those who say it can't be done are usually interrupted by those who are doing it."
