Just a bunch of fatties

My mom came across this article talking about how Christians are the highest percentage of fatties in the country. Among the people surveyed, Southern Baptists had the highest average body weight- why am I not surprised?

Um, maybe because we have food at every single function? lol...It doesn't surprise me either! We have a get together, there's food. We go to BLG, there's food. After BLG we go out to eat...Hmm, maybe that's why I've gained 20 lbs! LOL!!!

Totally! I know it doesn't seem we can have function at my church w/o food/coffee/dessert something involved...I myself am guilty of it!

It's a little late to complain now. We are so blessed with such exquisite cuisine to enjoy. You could say a little fat is a good sign of how God cares for us. Try just eating a little less during the day before the food events, take a walk and don't stuff yourself.

I think this is ridiculous...shameful...sinful. Self-control IS a fruit of the Spirit that extends to food. Food can be as much of a life-controlling addiction as anything. It is foolish to say, "We should love the body God gave us," while stuffing our faces with a double quarter pounder with cheese meal from McDonald's...AND feeding the same junk to our children. We're basically poisoning the bodies God gave us.

The US has a high obesity rate as it is, but WHY is it that the more "religious" we are, the heavier we are???? Do we feel safer? Do we feel God will either heal us or take us to heaven? Maybe we need more singing & shouting & dancing in worship and less sitting still on our bottoms! Funny concept.
