Nuggets

The last few days I have been drawn to Scripture and spiritual truths quite often. I guess I was getting so dry that my heart decided to start refreshing itself again. I can already feel a difference. I have been praying more often and my thoughts are dripping with awareness of His presence and power.

Anyway, I read a few things this week that have stuck with me so I thought I would share them with you. These are not original thoughts, they are adopted from some wiser, more articulate people's blogs.

From Shaun Groves:
"The great American prophet Stephen King writes '...stopping a piece of work just because it’s hard, either emotionally or imaginatively, is a bad idea. Sometimes you have to go on when you don’t feel like it, and sometimes you’re doing good work when it feels like all you’re managing is to shovel **** from a sitting position.'

A “God thing”, I’m relearning is not necessarily a thing of less resistance than the thing you already know today. God’s way is not necessarily the way I feel most confident in or the most qualified to take. It’s not necessarily the quickest, smoothest, clearest, most reassuring thing."

From Prodigal Jon:
“I discovered that I am better at weeping with God, than I am at dancing with Him. I am great at coming to Him when the world has fallen apart and things are all broken and clearly beyond my control. When the puzzle of my life is missing the edge pieces, I am more than happy to empty my box with Him. But when I'm happy and things are going well, I at best send God postcards that say, "wish you were here."'

Chew on those for a while.

Enough Said

Thanks Carly!

Has it come to this?

The other day I was walking through a store and I noticed an add proclaiming the greatness of Wii Fit. Apparently people don't have to go to the gym or outside anymore and can work out by playing video games. Its a whole new approach to health from the comfort of your own couch. Personally I think this is ridiculous but to each his own.

Sunday Slim Down

Well not much to report. I went for my first run in over a year on Monday and it felt great! I did about 2 miles without any cramping or breathing problems. Even the next day I wasn't sore. Nice to know I'm not starting at square one like usual. I need to be better about running consistently however (IE 3x a week) because only then will it make a difference. I did swim some laps though so my arms got a work out the other day. I tried to eat less but then I wasn't producing enough milk for Jovie so I had to up the calorie count again. I read that when you are nursing you should add 200 more calories to the already 300 more calories you are suppose to add while pregnant. So that might hinder my weight loss a little. So my goal this week is just to exercise regularly and not in spurts. I will update again next week.

Evening of the Arts

Tomorrow night I will be one of many artists within our church that will be showcased at the first ever, Evening of the Arts at First Baptist Church Naples. I am really excited about it but hardly know what to expect. I have never displayed my photography before or sold prints to people outside of my family. (Yes I charged my family for prints too) All but 10% of the proceeds I earn from the evening will go directly into our future adoption fund. The other 10% goes to the First Baptist Academy art department for hosting the event.

If you are in the Naples area stop by, take a look, buy/order a print. It starts at 7pm at FBCN in the commons area. See you there.

How are you?

I have been asked a lot for an update on my hospital adventure and how things are feeling now. Truth be told, not much better, it really depends on the day. In my last post I told you it was a bacteria but I came to find out it is has more to do with my C-section surgery. During my last check up they said that I had some "soocher" (sp?) that won't dissolve for another 2 months that could be pulling on my incisions. Then I talked to a friend of mine and learned it could be more permanent than that. Apparently she has been in and out of the hospital for 2 years complaining of the same pain. Every time she was diagnosed with something different- appendix, hernia, etc. Recently she came to learn that one of her nerves was sewn into an incision and unless she wanted to have another surgery to correct it, she would have to live with that pain. We have the same doctor so it is possible that I may have had the same thing happen to me. I pray not but only time will tell. While the bacteria was still present, it is not the cause of my pain. I just hope I can manage to get out of bed without wincing or crying for the rest of my life. I will keep you posted.

Delicioso

Tonight I cheated. Mom's are supposed to cook, I know, but some nights (most nights) I am unable to. I love cooking but I don't have the patience to manage 2 kids and cook at the same time yet. So I cheated. I went to Cena! A great new shop just minutes from my house. They prepare delicious meals and all I do is put it in my oven and take credit for it. If you have a place like this in your area then you know how helpful it can be. It's not pizza and its not take-out. Its cheaper and better for you. That is enough to get me to use it! I plan on going there many more times in the future. Tonight we had the Tuscany Chicken. FABULOUS!
